THE RUNWAY

For over twenty-five years, Ryerson University’s graduating fashion students have come together to showcase their creative talents through Mass Exodus, comprised of The Runway and The Exhibit. The Runway sets the stage for the graduating Fashion Design students as they present their final collections to the public.

Ryerson University’s School of Fashion is proud to present Mass Exodus 2013. This year, The Runway will consist of two shows on April 11th, 2013 at 12:30pm and 6:00pm at the Mattamy Athletic Centre at The Gardens.

The inspiration for Mass Exodus 2013 comes from the energy of light through a prism. When a full spectrum of colour enters a prism, it refracts into white light. In turn, a single white light bursts into shards of colour, with particles of every shade diffusing to create the world around us. The original pieces are broken apart only to be put back together, shaping our lives as we know them.

Mass Exodus 2013 represents a proverbial shift from past to present. As the graduating class evolves from those who are learning, to those who have learned and become alumni, Mass Exodus changes venues from the Ryerson Theatre to the Mattamy Athletic Centre at The Gardens. This shift allows us to leave a legacy, while paving the way for the future.

With Mass Exodus 2013, we will captivate the attention of the industry and Toronto community through a transcendent, uplifting experience. The spirit of innovation is our driving force. The prism represents the diversity of our heritage, projecting us into the future.

As our legacy unfolds, we expand from a precious place of comfort and enter the unfamiliar. We are the continuum from past to future. Celebrate with us as we step into our light, because the end is only the beginning.
